Tyne Patterson is the San Joaquin County District Attorney investigating the school shooting.
Tyne first appears after the school shooting, where Lee Toric talks to her and offers his partnership. While Patterson wanted to focus the attention on the Byz Lats, Toric tried to direct her toward the Sons, telling her it would benefit her career while just going after the Byz Lats was only a temporary solution to calm the local citizens. He gave her his card, telling her that he looked forward to working with her (Tyne being unaware of Toric's true motive of hurting the Sons in retaliation for the death of his sister, Pamela). It is also seen in this season that Tyne's neck-length brown hair is merely just a wig, and she reveals her true colors, becoming a more, hard-pressed and tough-as-nails D.A. in her investigation.
Tyne works with Toric up until his murder in the fourth episode, "Wolfsangel", and where it's proven shortly after his death that Nero Padilla was framed for the murder of a Diosa escort by Toric when DNA evidence is found in his motel room. Jax Teller and Tara Knowles both makes deals with her in order to gain immunity: Jax's deal is to give up Galen O'Shay and his crew and Tara agrees to confess to all her crimes committed on behalf of the MC. While Jax holds up his end of the deal by delivering Galen and his men as promised (although they were murdered), Patterson is still displeased that there was bloodshed involved.
In the season finale, Patterson meets with Jax at the new clubhouse, telling him that whatever happens today will fall on him and that he is a man, a husband and a father before SAMCRO and that a good man would own his place and not let his family take the fall for his mistakes. Jax agrees to give himself up as the source of the KG-9 used in the school shooting, under the condition that Tara has immunity and is able to take their boys outside of Charming. Patterson agrees to this deal and will meet them at Jax and Tara's house later in the day. When she gets there, however, she finds Jax inside, crying and cradling Tara's corpse while taking notice of Eli Roosevelt's dead body nearby with Jax's gun lying at his feet.
