Agent June Stahl was an ATF agent on the FX original series Sons of Anarchy. Played by American actress Ally Walker, Stahl makes her debut on the episode, "AK-51" season one and plays a recurring antagonist role throughout the same and subsequent seasons, until she meets her demise in the season three finale, "NS".

Biography[]

Stahl was obsessed with proving to all that she was tough, and unnerved her male fellow law enforcement officers with her swaggering arrogance and tendency to regard them as sex objects.

She was fairly gung-ho in her attitude to law enforcement, and often made choices that would generate the most personal glory rather than reliable results, as such, her actions frequently had severe negative consequences that she would refuse to take responsibility for, much to the disgust of more conventional law enforcement officers like David Hale, and outlaws such as SAMCRO alike.

She would stop at nothing to get the outcome she wanted and even murdered her lover in cold blood to frame her for a murder she committed.

Although she was cold and cunning, she was sympathetic to Gemma after finding out she was raped and expressed her condolences.

Season 1[]

"AK-51"[]

Agent June Stahl of the ATF arrived at the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original clubhouse backed by Deputy Chief David Hale of the Charming Police Department. Stahl says she is looking for the owner of the Teller-Morrow Garage. Clarence "Clay" Morrow, the President of the club steps forward and says he is the owner. He is immediately arrested. Clay asks what the charge is and Stahl says he isn't being charged yet, she is just looking for some information about Nate Meineke. Clay states he doesn't know who that is and Stahl informs him that he is responsible for holding up a prison transport and killing three people. The last call on his phone is from TM.

In the interrogation room, Clay tells Stahl that he has no information on Nate or his organisation and she doesn't have any proof he had anything to do with it. Stahl says that Clay's long rap sheet and previous convictions for gun running aren't looking good for him. Clay confidently tells Stahl that the Sons are just a motorcycle club and he hasn't been charged with a crime in over seven years. Stahl says that she will have a warrant to search the clubhouse and garage in a couple of hours. Clay then asks for his lawyer, Stahl says she will get him his phone call in a couple of hours.

Stahl soon learns that the phone evidence isn't enough to secure a warrant. A man by the name of Josh Kohn from Chicago introduces himself, he tells Stahl that he can't reveal specifics of his investigation but does show Stahl some photos of SAMCRO in Nevada the previous week shooting weapons in a gunfight with a rival motorcycle club. Hale also has information on Piermont "Piney" Winston, another member of SAMCRO of whom Nate was previously in a platoon with in Vietnam.

The warrant finally comes through, hordes of armed ATF agents storm the clubhouse and quickly detain all the Sons. The Sons seem to be in surprisingly high spirits.

After the clubhouse search uncovered no real crimes the Sons could be charged with, something else caught Stahl's interest. Oil barrels coming from Dungloe in Ireland. Stahl theorises that this links the Sons to the True IRA; she is going to call all the favours she can to finish off the Sons for good. Hale asks about Kohn and Stahl says that she called his supervisor who believes him to be on vacation. On her way out Stahl tells the officers to cut Clay loose.

"Old Bones"[]

Some bones have been recovered on i44. Hale tells Stahl they belong to an affiliate of the Sons. Stahl isn't too convinced much can be done with it, that is until Hale explains he has the man's son coming in, who is still closely affiliated with the Sons.

Lowell Harland Jr. enters. Hale explains the situation with his dead father but Lowell isn't too surprised, seemingly already knowing the truth. Hale and Stahl start to feed Lowell thoughts, they tell him he must have done something to the Sons to warrant him such a grisly demise, and then for him to be buried with their enemies? He must have really pissed off Clay. Suddenly Chief Wayne Unser enters, telling Lowell to leave and demanding to know who Stahl is.

Back at the station, a bloodied Kohn sits with Hale and Stahl, he and Jackson "Jax" Teller, Vice President of SAMCRO fought at the barbershop. They till him he is finished, according to witnesses he attacked Jax first, luckily for him Jax isn't pressing charges. They also know about him stalking Tara Knowles and various other crimes he has committed during his stay in Charming. Before he leaves, Kohn pleads with the pair to stop Tara being involved with Jax.

In the interrogation room, Stahl speaks to Jax with Unser present. Stahl says that Floyd says that Kohn attacked Jax, causing him to push him through the window and beat him. There will be no charges filed against him. Stahl asks Jax is everyone in Charming scared of the Sons or do they genuinely support them. Jax says nothing. Stahl continues, telling Jax that she wishes someone loved her like Tara loves him, coming back to Charming as she knows he will always keep her safe and has no boundaries and is perfectly happy to put a fed through a glass window.

"Better Half"[]

Stahl is back in Charming, she first visits Luann Delaney, a porn producer and associate of SAMCRO, her husband, Otto "Big Otto" Delaney is also a member of the club but is currently serving a lengthy term in prison. Stahl's team find evidence of drug use at her studio and Stahl orders the studio shut down.

Stahl returns to the Charming police station with Luann to find a furious Unser who has been moved out of his office so the ATF can set up shop. Stahl then says to Unser that his personal and business realtionship with the Sons is well documented and he poses a threat to the investigation, she orders he be removed from the station. Hale stands beside and watches this all unfold.

Stahl and Hale head in to Unser's office where they recap what they currently have on the Sons and the IRA. They know about the oil barrels coming in from IRA territory loaded with firearms. They also know that the Sons IRA connection, Michael McKeavey was found beaten to death 2 weeks ago, they suspect the man responsible was Brenan Hefner, the corrupt port commissioner who controlled the gun shipments; Stahl believes a deal went south and McKeavey was killed as a result. Hefner has also just been found shot to death, they believe the Sons are responsible.

Stahl says that all this evidence is circumstantial, they cannot prove a thing, she wants to invoke the RICO act and use Luann and Otto as leverage against SAMCRO. Stahl also wants to use the other women in SAMCRO, specifically Tara, Donna Winston, Harry "Opie" Winston's wife and Rita "Cherry" Zambell, Kip "Half-Sack" Epps' lover, who is also a felon, for further leverage against the club, saying that all of them are privy to SAMCRO's illegal activities. Hale is quick to jump in and defend Tara, saying that she isn't one of them, but Stahl says that surveillance says otherwise.

Stahl pays a visit to Donna, she tries to use Donna's financial problems and Opie's connection with the club to cause her to turn on him, knowing the family are going through some difficulties. Donna is defiant, telling Stahl she doesn't know anything about the club and even if she did, she certainly wouldn't tell her, calling Stahl a bitch and telling her to get out of her house.

Stahl moves on to Tara, visiting her at her job at the St. Thomas hospital. Stahl flatters Tara, telling her that she is very succesful woman and wonders how she got wrapped up with SAMCRO. Tara soon becomes edgy, telling Stahl her personal life is none of her businessa and demands to know what she wants. Stahl is straight, asking Tara does she know of any illegal activities that Jax or SAMCRO are involved in, Tara denies knowing anything and Stahl gives her her business card before leaving. Tara asks Stahl what she hopes to find and Stahl mentions that Kohn never ended up back in Chicago, wondering what happened to him and all because of love, Stahl says she hopes the same doesnt' happen to Tara.

As Stahl leaves, she passes by Jax in the hallway, the pair lock eyes as they walk past each other but say nothing.

Stahl arrives at the supermarket, looking for Cherry, Cherry flees and punches one of Stahl's agents before being caught at the door.

Stahl approaches Gemma, with Gemma saying that Cherry doesn't know anything about the club. Stahl then says that she is sure that Luann does, knowing the pair are close friends and hoping this will rattle Gemma. Gemma says Luann can teach Stahl how to give a blowjob, but that is it. Stahl says she knows Gemma has enough secrets to bury an empire, but Gemma insists she is just a wife and mother; she knows where to find her if she needs her.

In the interrogation room, Stahl tells Cherry or Rita, as she is legally known that she is lucky nobody died in the fire she caused. Stahl presses for information about the Sons Indian Hills charter, of which Cherry used to be affiliated with. Cherry denies knowing anything and Stahl says that she will start the extradition paperwork, with Nevada wanting to extradite Cherry.

Stahl's next move is for Otto, she visits him in prison and tells him that Luann has been arrested and they found narcotics at the studio, enough to put her in prison for at least 10 years. Otto is visibly devastated and Stahl tells him that if he gives her some information on SAMCRO, she will release Luann, Otto of course refuses. Stahl orders for the cameras to be turned off and sits down with Otto. Stahl lies to Otto and tells him that she has just had the SAMCRO case dumped on her, she doesn't really care about it and just needs something to bring back to her boss. If the intel is useless, she doesn't care. Stahl then tells Otto she knows he has a parole meeting in 3 months, if he assists, she can make sure that it works out for him this time. Otto seems genuinely interested, telling Stahl that he isn't as up to date with SAMCRO as he used to be, he only knows about past transgressions. Stahl says that her boss doesn't know that, Otto can just give her some dead information and it will all work out the same. Otto agrees, telling Stahl he wants it in writing and he wants to see Luann. Stahl says she will try and make it happen.

The following day, Hale and Stahl learn that Cherry has escaped custody, they believe that whilst they were having sex the previous night, SAMCRO snuck in and broke her out, leaving Luann behind. Hale is concerned as Cherry was a big part of the case but Stahl shares some good news with him. 2 men have been ID'd relation to Hefner's murder and Hale says that they look like Opie and Robert "Bobby Elvis" Munson. Stahl says they will have official confirmation tomorrow.

Stahl returns to see Otto in prison with his demands in writing. Otto flicks through the paperwork, noticing that Stahl's signature is missing from the paperwork. Stahl says that once he signs, she will hold up on her end of the deal. Otto takes a napkin out of his pocket, he explains to Stahl that it is his account of a hijacking carried out by SAMCRO and 2 other Sons charters 9 years ago. The pair reach an agreement as Stahl says that Luann will be freed now and she will begin work on his parole hearing as soon as he signs.

Stahl reads through Otto's written testimoney of the hijacking 9 years ago. Hale arrives and says the eyewitness was unable to get a positive ID for Opie, but they have gotten one for Bobby. Stahl says it doesn't matter as they will all fall in time.

Hale watches on the cameras as Stahl enters the interrogation room with Otto, she has his typed and signed statements. Otto looks over the paperwork one final time but claims he doesn't have his glasses with him, Stahl leans in to read what is written to him when suddenly he jumps to his feet, grabbing Stahl's head and beating it against the metal table repeatedly. Officers soon rush in and beat and restrain Otto, who laughs to himself. Stahl staggers out of the interrogation room, saying that she is going to "bury these assholes".

"Capybara"[]

Running out of ideas, Stahl decides to target Bobby, knowing she can get him for the murder of Hefner. The SAMCRO clubhouse is assaulted and Bobby is grabbed and told he is under arrest for the murder of Hefner.

Stahl is questioning a confused Opie at the DoJ facility. She reveals she knows about the hit on Hefner which Opie denies, he says he wants his lawyer. Stahl continues to taunt Opie; asking him what the club will think when they hear that he willingly left with his family and find out that his bills have been paid. Opie realises he is being set up as the informant. Stahl says she can only hold him and his family for 48 hours and the real identity of the witness will not be revealed until the pre-trial at Bobby's hearing which could take a while. Opie tells Stahl he will tell the club the truth, she says that Clay won't believe him.

Outside the room Hale confronts Stahl about her plan, Stahl becomes engraged when Hale doesn't agree with what she is doing and claims it is wrong and someone is going to get hurt. Stahl quickly switches it up and plays nice, telling Hale she appreciates his concern.

Stahl checks in with Evique Michaels, a young girl and the witness who saw SAMCRO kill Hefner, Stahl tells Hale they are moving her to secure location until Bobby's trial. Stahl then has Hale escorted out of the building.

Stahl then visits Donna who is in a seperate part of the building to Opie, Stahl has the kids taken away whilst she speaks to Donna. Stahl inquires how Donna was able to pay off three months worth of their mortgage in one cash payment but Donna asys that she didn't ask. Stahl gets out two sketches of Opie and Bobby, telling Donna that she believed Opie had something to do with the murder. This causes Donna to crack and she asks if Opie is going back to jail. Stahl says he isn't but from SAMCRO's perspective, only one person could've informed on Bobby and that was Opie, as it isn't public knowledge there is another witness who really saw the murder happen. Stahl continues to show sympathy and is honest that Opie's situation is looking dire and she claims that is why they have been picked up as they are all in danger and she can only protect from for one more day before she has to release Opie. Donna insists that Jax wouldn't let anything happen to Opie but Stahl says that without her help, Opie is going to end up in prison or dead.

Stahl watches as Opie and Donna are reunited and discuss what they are going to do. Donna wants Opie to work with Stahl but Opie refuses, Stahl ponders what the pair will decide.

Stahl then heads to speak to Bobby, she says that he killed a state official and they are going to be seeking the death penalty. Bobby is stoic, telling Stahl that he didn't kill anyone. Stahl says that he witness statement is very damning, she opens her folder and begins to read from a blank sheet of paper the manner in which Opie, Bobby and Jax killed Hefner before fleeing.

Stahl walks with Opie and Donna who are leaving the facility, she tries to reason with them but they are uninterest and leave. After they have left, Stahl speaks to Agent Smith who confirms that they have bugged Opie's phone, his truck and his bike with audio devices.

"The Sleep of Babies"[]

Stahl speaks with Smith and he tells her that the bug on Opie's truck is working but not on his cellphone, he is concerned that SAMCRO or Opie have found it. Stahl says that the Hefner murder trial starts tomorrow and then the witness will be unveiled, SAMCRO will know that Opie isn't the snitch and then they can make their case and arrest him for the murder of Hefner too.

Suddenly Clay barges in, pushing pash Smith and demanding to speak to Stahl. Clay mocks Stahl, telling her that she has no evidence on any of them and all the plays she is making are desparation plays, arresting Bobby, assaulting the clubhouse, trying to turn Opie and she deserves everything that she got from Otto.

Stahl escorts Evique to her safehouse where she will await before the trial. Evique is evidently frightened and Stahl does her best to assure her everything will be fine.

Smith reports to Stahl that the truck bug is gone which means that SAMCRO have definetly found the bug and now think that Opie is working with them, Stahl orders another team to be put on Opie to keep him safe.

Hale finds Stahl packing, she tells him that due to their being a shootout in Oakland earlier, the FBI has gotten involved, outranking her and pulling the ATF out of Charming. Stahl is disappointed, telling Hale they will have to settle with Bobby. Hale then tells Stahl that she has put Opie's life in danger, Stahl brushes this off, saying that the witnesses identity will be out tomorrow and then SAMCRO will know that Opie is innocent. Hale is furious with Stahl as she tells him that she won't protect Opie any longer and has dumped a big mess on the Charming PD to try and resolve. Stahl ignores his frustration, telling him that at least they had some fun.

With news of a shooting, Charming PD race downtown, they find Donna dead. Stahl arrives at the scene and Hale immediately approaches her, beside himself with rage, telling her Donna's blood is on her hands. Smith steps in front of Stahl but Hale punches him across the face, knocking him to the floor. "Sorry" Stahl whispers in Donna's general direction.

"The Revelator"[]

Stahl visits Bobby and delivers him the news about Donna. Stahl tells Bobby it was a mistake and Opie was clearly the target, she knows this because she orchestrated it, making it seem like Opie ratted on Bobby. Bobby is understandably dazed by this, asking why Stahl would tell him this. Stahl smugly tells Bobby that Opie is getting picked up after Donna's funeral tomorrow and both he and Bobby will be charged with murder and the death penalty sought; sarcastically remarking to Bobby that she is telling him because she feels guilty about creating orphans.

Season 2[]

Agent Stahl is first seen in Season 2 with Bobby Elvis, who is still incarcerated for his alleged role in the murder of Brandon Hefner, the Port Authority agent. When Bobby asks what she got out of spending countless man hours and thousands of dollars, as well as getting her "face bashed in" by Otto Delaney, yet still not being able to bring down SAMCRO (or even being able to pin this murder on Bobby), she responds with "Peace of mind". She is seen returning Bobby to Teller/Morrow Automotive, which doubles as the Sons of Anarchy club house, where a party is being held in honor of Bobby's return. She is sarcastically asked by Clay to stay at the party, noting that he believes she could "do some serious damage to a stripper pole". She states "You have no idea...", and then leaves. After a long absence, she again returns to investigate the L.O.A.N. and the True IRA. She visits Clay in jail in attempt to get him to turn on the IRA. Although she fails at that, their conversation ultimately provokes a physical confrontation between Jax and Clay. She also visits Jax Teller as well in an attempt to exploit the schism between SAMCRO and the IRA and ends up revealing the IRA's betrayal of SAMCRO to L.O.A.N. Jax declines the offer and instills dread upon Stahl with the revelation of her colleague Josh Kohn's murder.

Stahl was able to prey on Chibs' desire to reunite with his family and the two worked out a deal where if Chibs delivered the True IRA to the ATF, she would rescue his estranged wife and daughter and would grant complete immunity for any crimes to SAMCRO. However, Stahl decided to change the deal (no immunity for SAMCRO) but couldn't convince Chibs to go along with it. She threatened him by saying that she herself would tell the IRA about Chibs' betrayal, but she was still unable to break him. When Opie found out that his wife, Donna's, death was a result of Stahl making Opie appear to be a snitch, he found her and threatened her at gunpoint. However, he showed mercy and let her live. He took out the magazine to his gun and gave it to Stahl. After Opie left, Stahl broke down and started crying.

In the season two finale, Stahl discovers that Ethan Zobelle is an FBI informant and passes the information to Chief Unser, who in turn passes it onto SAMCRO. She continued her sting operation with Edmond Hayes and was able to arrange a meeting between him and his father, Cameron Hayes. Cameron secretly told Edmond to kill Stahl, so Edmond convinced Stahl that another meeting would take place and she arranged for only herself to be present. At his home, Edmond retrieved a gun but couldn't bring himself to kill Stahl. Stahl revealed that the ATF knew all along about Cameron's plan and that Edmond's gun was loaded with blanks. Feeling like a fool, Edmond punched Stahl and attempted to escape, but Stahl was able to fire several shots from her sidearm and accidentally killed Edmond. Soon after, Polly Zobelle showed up to say goodbye to Edmond, but instead found his dead body. Before finding Stahl, Gemma appeared in the house, looking to exact revenge on Polly. Gemma killed Polly in self-defense and then discovered Edmond's body and Stahl. After telling Gemma to flee, Stahl tricked Gemma into handling her gun, making it appear that Gemma killed both Polly and Edmond. After Gemma escaped, Stahl announced over her radio that Gemma had murdered Polly Zobelle and then took Stahl's sidearm to kill Edmond Hayes. However, Edmond's father had been eavesdropping on Stahl's broadcast and ends up killing SAMCRO prospect Half Sack and kidnapping Jax's infant son in retaliation.

Season Three[]

At the start of season three, Stahl showed no remorse for the fact that her actions led to the death of Half-Sack and the kidnapping of baby Abel. She was demoted off of the IRA case by the ATF after the events at the end of season 2 but was looking for ways to return to the case. She interrogated Tara regarding the kidnapping and was agitated even though Tara was being truthful in an effort to get law enforcement to assist in the search for Abel. Clay told Stahl that if anything happened to Abel because of her, he will personally kill her. Gemma made a personal deal with Stahl to surrender to the federal authorities, but she faints at the SAMCRO clubhouse before she can turn herself in. At the hospital, Stahl informed Gemma that the US Attorney will take away the deal because she didn't turn herself in even though she was incapacitated. Jax took a risky move and secretly made an off-the-record deal with Stahl to give her the True IRA in exchange for Stahl pushing back their upcoming bail hearing, reduced time on their gun charges, and Stahl recanting her statement against Gemma.

Stahl proved to be trustworthy in her deal with Jax when she is able to push back SAMCRO's bail hearing by 10 days so that the bikers can go to Belfast to get Abel back. She supplied a rigged testimony for Gemma to relay to the US Attorney's office, incriminating Agent Tyler in the process. She has been trustworthy because she knows that Jax's knowledge of the California gun-running operation can save her dying career and unlike the rest of her deals she had a lot to lose by breaking.

It is reinforced in season three that Agent Stahl is bisexual. She is shown to be in an intimate relationship with Agent Amy Tyler, whom she killed in order to fabricate a story that Agent Tyler murdered Cameron Hayes' son, Edmond, thus "verifying" the false testimony created by Stahl and given by Gemma as part of the deal she made with Jax to get Gemma off the hook for the same murder. In the finale of Season 3, she exposes Jax's deal to the club thinking they would kill him. Her motivation for doing so seems to have been malicious, although she claims it was because she "had to make sure the Prince really turned rat". Soon after her attempt to "out" Jax as a rat to his Club, it is revealed that all of SAMCRO had been in on the plan the entire time. This ultimately leads to Opie, with the help of Unser, executing Agent Stahl in retribution for her role in the death of his wife, Donna. During this confrontation Stahl breaks down crying and begs Opie for her life before he shoots her in the back of the head with a MAC10, executing her in a similar fashion that Donna was.
